gemini 3 user claim unverified

Google’s Gemini 3 has surged to the forefront of the AI chatbot market, capturing 21.5% of global web traffic by January 2026. This represents a dramatic increase from just 5.7% market share a year earlier. In the mobile app space, Gemini’s presence has grown even more impressively, rising from 14.7% to 25.2% over the same period.

The AI assistant recently reached 750 million monthly active users globally in Q4 2025, up from 650 million in the previous quarter. This rapid growth has helped Gemini overtake Meta AI’s approximately 500 million users, though it still trails behind ChatGPT’s projected 810 million users. CEO Sundar Pichai has emphasized that Gemini 3’s capabilities are directly responsible for driving increased user engagement across Google’s product ecosystem.

ChatGPT remains the overall market leader with 64.5% global share, but its dominance is weakening. In the app market specifically, ChatGPT’s share fell dramatically from 69.1% to 45.3% year-over-year, while smaller competitors like Grok, DeepSeek, Perplexity, and Claude have also gained ground.

ChatGPT’s market dominance erodes despite leading position, as rising competitors chip away at its app market share.

The launch of Gemini 3, designed for complex reasoning and multimodal tasks, has been a major driver of user growth. The model’s technical improvements include a massive 2 million token context window and enhanced multimodal capabilities that allow it to process various data types simultaneously. The platform is particularly popular among 25 to 34 years age group, who constitute the largest portion of its user base at 31.47%. The system leverages retrieval-augmented generation to effectively manage unstructured data across its applications.

Gemini’s integration across Google’s ecosystem has been key to its success. It powers the AI Overview search function used by 2 billion people monthly and will soon enhance Apple’s Siri through a new partnership. The assistant is also making inroads in the enterprise market, where it holds 20% share, behind Anthropic (33%) and OpenAI (25%).

Industry analysts note that Google’s strategy of embedding Gemini throughout its platform rather than relying solely on standalone apps is reshaping the AI market. This approach, combined with continuous model improvements, has helped Gemini achieve a 49% growth in market share over just 12 weeks, establishing it as a formidable competitor in the rapidly evolving AI assistant landscape.
