Retailers are jumping in fast. In 2025, 92% of retail marketers are using AI. That’s up from 78% of all organizations using AI in 2024, compared to just 55% the year before. Around 95% of retailers already tried AI tools in marketing, starting with generative tools in 2023.

Consumers are expecting more personal experiences. Around 70% of shoppers expect retailers to personalize their experience. Over 60% of retailers are already using AI to deliver personalized recommendations. AI applications are expected to save the retail industry USD 340 billion annually by 2027 through personalization alone. The market for AI-powered personal shopping assistance could exceed USD 10 billion by 2027.

AI is also making operations smoother. Chatbots now handle up to 80% of routine customer service questions. AI price optimization increases gross margins by 2% to 5%. Dynamic pricing powered by AI lifts revenue by 2% to 7%. AI for price management also cuts unsold inventory by 20%. Predictive maintenance powered by AI can reduce equipment downtime by 10% to 40%, keeping retail operations running efficiently and cutting unexpected disruption costs. Marketing automation is also widely adopted, with 48.9% of retailers currently using AI to streamline and scale their marketing efforts.

Looking ahead, 73% of retailers are implementing or testing AI to improve customer experiences by 2025. Most retailers expect meaningful AI results within 18 months and scalable returns within two years. Revenue tied to AI in retail could surpass USD 5 trillion by 2030.
