While everyone’s busy chasing the latest slab phones, Motorola dropped the Razr 60 and reminded people that flip phones aren’t just for nostalgia trips anymore. This thing packs a 6.9-inch display with a 22:9 aspect ratio that unfolds like some kind of tech origami. The external display isn’t just for show either – it’s actually useful, which is more than most phones can say about their gimmicks.
Motorola’s Razr 60 proves flip phones can be more than nostalgia bait in the modern smartphone era.
The MediaTek Dimensity 7400X chipset runs the show here. Not exactly flagship territory, but it gets the job done. The standard model comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage using UFS 2.2. Want more? The Ultra variant bumps that up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Because apparently, people need that much space for their flip phone adventures.
Here’s where it gets interesting. Triple 50MP cameras. All three sensors hitting that 50MP mark – main, ultrawide/macro, and front-facing. Motorola clearly believes in the “more megapixels, more better” philosophy. Whether you’re taking selfies or regular shots, you’re getting 50 megapixels thrown at you. The camera system works with both displays too, so you can frame shots using the external screen when the phone’s closed. There’s even a Photo Booth feature that stitches together multiple poses with filters for those who miss the old mall photo booth days.
Battery life? The standard Razr 60 gets a 4500mAh battery, while the Ultra variant squeezes in 4700mAh. Motorola claims up to 35 hours of talk time and 13.2 days of standby. Those numbers sound optimistic, but hey, at least they’re trying. Similar to how AI integration in healthcare reduces administrative tasks, the Razr 60’s battery optimization uses machine learning to maximize power efficiency.
Connectivity is where things get wild. Wi-Fi 6/6E, Wi-Fi 7, and get this – satellite messaging. Yeah, you read that right. When cell towers fail you, this flip phone can apparently reach for the stars. It’s in beta, but still. The future is weird.
The whole package folds down into something actually pocketable. At 188g, it’s lighter than most flagship phones despite packing all the folding tech inside. Remember pockets? Motorola does. They even remembered to include a SIM tool in the box, which is practically luxury these days. This flip phone revival might actually make sense in 2025. Who would’ve thought?
