This collaboration will bring NVIDIA’s powerful Blackwell platform to Microsoft’s Azure cloud services by late 2025, promising to transform AI capabilities for businesses and consumers alike.

Azure will deploy NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPU-based virtual machines, featuring the GB200 NVL72 and Quantum InfiniBand networking. These high-performance systems support up to 72 Blackwell GPUs per rack with custom server designs. These new systems will greatly boost performance for generative AI and agentic applications that can act more independently to solve complex tasks.

Azure’s integration of NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs unlocks unprecedented power for next-generation AI applications that think and act autonomously.

The partnership also integrates NVIDIA Inference Microservices (NIM) into Azure AI Foundry. This means developers can optimize foundation model deployments more efficiently. NVIDIA’s specialized containers will speed up AI applications running on Microsoft’s cloud platform.

The NBA, BMW, Dentsu, Harvey, and OriGen use these joint technologies to tackle challenging problems across various industries. The alliance has also optimized popular AI models like ChatGPT in Azure OpenAI Service and enhanced Microsoft Copilot’s performance.

Looking beyond software, the companies recently joined forces with BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners, MGX, and xAI to form the AI Infrastructure Partnership. Announced on March 19, 2025, this group aims to drive investment in data centers and energy solutions needed to power the next generation of AI systems.

The expanded collaboration was highlighted at GTC 2025, where both companies showcased their vision for AI’s future. Their joint roadmap includes plans for the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition, designed to handle advanced AI workloads.
