OpenAI has launched a new $100-per-month subscription tier for ChatGPT. It’s designed for developers and power users who need more than the basic plans offer. The new tier sits between the $20 Plus plan and the existing $200 Pro plan.
The $100 tier gives users five times the usage limits of the Plus plan. It also includes ten times the Codex capacity compared to Plus, though that higher Codex limit is only available through May 31. Codex is OpenAI’s coding tool built for real, complex projects.
The $100 plan offers five times the usage of Plus, with ten times the Codex capacity through May 31.
The plan includes access to Pro models, deep research tools, image creation, memory, and file uploads. It’s ad-free, unlike the Plus plan, which does include ads. OpenAI says it’s built for high-intensity coding sessions and demanding, professional work.
The $200 Pro plan still exists and remains the highest tier. It offers 20 times the usage limits of Plus. Both the $100 and $200 plans share the same core features, but the $200 tier supports continuous and parallel demanding workflows. Users can switch between the two plans anytime through their account settings.
Compared to the $20 Plus plan, the $100 tier offers much more power. Plus is better suited for lighter use and select projects. The $100 plan targets users who rely on these tools daily for serious work.
OpenAI announced the new tier on Thursday. However, it wasn’t listed on some pricing pages right away. There’s also a display issue on iPhones in Turkey, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Africa, and Egypt, where the plan may not appear. Users in those countries can subscribe through their iPhone settings instead.
The new plan directly targets Anthropic’s $100-per-month Claude option. OpenAI says Codex delivers more coding capacity per dollar than Claude Code. That difference is most noticeable during active, heavy coding use. This competitive push also reflects broader industry trends, where decentralized AI marketplaces are reshaping how developers access and deploy artificial intelligence tools at scale.
OpenAI’s move signals growing competition in the AI subscription market. Codex has already reached over 3 million weekly users globally, reflecting the rapid rise in developer demand for advanced coding tools. The pricing structure spans from Free to Enterprise levels, ensuring developers across different budgets can access the tools they need. Developers now have more choices when it comes to picking a plan that fits their workload and budget.
